Canada, home of the cowardly British, lies opposite this channel. These windswept plains are where unfortunate American solders had to set up camp in the 1800's. We would've stayed longer, but the constant 10 degree sea breezes made it uncomfortable really quickly.

A mini lagoon lies down this hill. We didn't go down any closer for two reasons:
1. Local legends of a hideous creature who rises from the abyss to snatch the unwary
2.The hike was too long.
This rocky beach is actually much further down the coast from the lagoon seen on the left. Mainland beaches lack the tropical coral that hawaii is blessed with, and thus the beaches have a rocky silt instead of soft sand.

Some interesting rock formations here. A rare sight, Emma posing for the camera.

Believe it or not, this water is simply perfect for stone skipping. That and the over abundance of round flat stones on the beach. Kinda weird how the rock changes color suddenly from black to red.

Like windsocks, Emma's bangs let you know which way the wind is blowing. Looks similar to Stonehenge, no?
